Church Groups

Kirk Session

This consists of Minister and the Elders of the congregation. They meet at two monthly intervals normally the third Thursday of the months February to December. The Kirk Session duties include being responsible for the spiritual well-being of the congregation by encouraging members to take part in worship and the life of the Church.   They also oversee the activities of all the Church organisations, keep up to date records of the communicants and baptismal roll and be responsible for any major works undertaken in the Church. Congregational Board

The board consists of the Minister, a number of Elders agreed by the Kirk Session and a similar number of members of the congregation. Those members are elected at the Annual Stated Meeting of the Congregation and usually for 3 years. The Board meets two monthly from January to November excluding July. The Board is responsible for the temporal matters within the church, primarily to do with finance and fabric. Members of the Board also undertake door duty at the door of the Church on Sunday mornings to welcome worshippers, to see to any matters that might arise and to count the offering after the service. Members are also allocated to one of the Board’s committees which deal with matters relating to Fabric, Finance, Fund Raising and Social events, Health & Safety and Magazine.   Initial contact for Hall Lets is made to Church Secretary and there is a nominated person on the Board to whom she will refer if there are aspects of the let which need to be resolved. Church Secretary

The Church Secretary is employed for two hours per week and keeps Church Roll up to date based on information passed to her. Also provides clerical/computer/photocopying support for Minister, sends out e-mail copies of Church Magazine to members who have opted for that format. Choir

The choir meets in Panbride Hall on a Sunday morning at 10.15am.   The choir is made up of people who like to sing. You do not have to be a wonderful singer, be able to read music and attendance every Sunday is not mandatory. If you have a sense of humour come and join us, you will be made very welcome – Men especially!! Further information from: weecurly @blueyonder.co.uk

Sunday School – Friends of God (FOG) Squad

Seeks to provide an environment which is conducive to the spiritual development of the children attending. The F.O.G Squad commences on the first Sunday in September and the children meet each week during term time. The session concludes on the first Sunday in June with a prize giving service. The F.O.G Squad provides various activities for the children. It has a dedicated team of teachers who attend regularly to support the children. All staff members have undergone PVG checks. The children’s voice is important to us and we regularly seek their opinions. All children from ages 3 to Primary 7 are welcome to join us. Banner Group

The Banner group has been operational for quite a number of years and have produced a range of banners, for both churches at specific times of the year or theme of service. A variety of materials are used in the Banners and once the idea for a banner is forthcoming it is the members who decide together and design the particular banner.

Crèche

Currently Crèche does not operate on a weekly basis but facilities can be organised on an as and when required basis. Further information available from june.black@hotmail.co.uk

Cleaning Teams

Around 35 volunteers split into 5 teams undertake the weekly cleaning of both churches.   Further information from Pat Taylor at dmct1@btinternet.com

 

Community Groups Using Church Halls

Hall Bookings

Our halls are available for hiring and a number of local organisations use them on a regular basis, although there are occasionally times available for a one-off hire. If you wish to enquire about availability, please contact us at the following email address:-secretarypanbride@hotmail.co.uk

Please give a contact name, address and phone number as well as an email contact. Your enquiry with be dealt with as quickly as possible. You will also be sent a Booking Form, and some information about the terms and conditions of hire with an indication of the costs.

Friendship Circle

The Friendship Circle meets regularly during winter months and offers the opportunity to those seeking the company of like minded people. The group invites speakers and entertainers from all walks of life, whose subjects include the arts, business and travel and many other topics. Membership of the group is open to all and is of great value to those who would benefit from the stimulus of social contact.

 Peter Pan Playgroup

Carnoustie & District Youth Brad Band and Arbroath Instrument al Ban and Youth Brass Band

Carnoustie and District Pipe Band

The competing band meets at 7pm in Panbride Hall on Wednesday evening from for their weekly practice sessions. More information at www.carnoustiepipeband.com

Alzheimer Scotland – Action on Dementia

A charity working throughout Scotland to help people with dementia, their careers and families. Meetings are each Friday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Further information from Dementia Resource Worker on 01241 431770

Carnoustie Recorded Music Circle

They meet monthly in Session Room at Newton Church on a Friday evening at 7.30pm. More information from Hon secretary at 01241 853017

Angus and Dundee Bird Club

 Carlogie Primary School Fairlogie Cafe

They use TRAIDCRAFT goods and is planned, organised and run by Primary 6 pupils. It is usually held monthly on the 3rd Wednesday. For more information
