Baptismal Anniversary Service 2014.
190 letters were sent inviting people who had had their children baptised during the last 25 years to attend a special service on 30th November 2014, which was the First Sunday of Advent. This resulted in around 196 mothers, fathers, grandparents and “babies” aged from a few months to their mid-twenties coming to the service. Together with others from the congregation, there were around 300 people in church that morning. There was a wonderful atmosphere and it was lovely to see so many coming forward with small candles to place on the table in the chancel.
Iain Forteath, the 11th baby I baptised did the readings, and some of those who were unable to be present sent information (and photos) about themselves and these are on the noticeboard in the Panbride Hall.
It was also good to see so many people at the Buffet Lunch – thank you to everyone at The Granary for a wonderful spread. This was a very special day for me and I hope for others too. It was good to catch up with some of those I had baptised (and in a few cases to meet their own children!). I hope you all enjoyed the day as much as I did. MSB
