At 8.30pm on Saturday 29th March, the lights in Newton Church were switched off and for the next hour a reflective service was held by candlelight.  All over the world at 8.30pm local time, in 154 countries lights on public buildings were switched off, from Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, to Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Scottish Parliament and the Niagara Falls. In Carnoustie Panbride there was a service of hymns, readings and prayers as well as a PowerPoint accompanied by reflective music showing the wonders of creation in different parts of the world. It gave us the opportunity to think about God’s wonderful creation and what we can do to protect it for future generations. It is hoped to have another event next year, perhaps in the form of a Candlelit Musical Supper.  MSB
