This event will take place in Princes Street Gardens on Assembly Sunday, 19th May 2013. This year’s title seemed to resonate with everyone, so it has been decided to confirm that sense of continuity and call it Heart and Soul 2013. In recognition of the 1450th anniversary of Columba landing on Iona, Heart and Soul 2013 will be inspired by Celtic Christianity, with all the richness of its themes: hospitality, pilgrimage, journeying, deep peace – healing and wholeness, creation and its care, celebrating the good earth, contemplative prayer, Trinity, representing Christ to the world, inclusive community, Christ in the stranger’s guise, rhythm of the seasons, prophecy, soul-friends, being ‘on the edge’. It’s exciting that the 19th of May also coincides with Pentecost. It is hoped that congregations will take a spot on the Avenue in Princes Street Gardens to show what they do, and tell their story. We will be looking at this in Kirk Session and will keep you informed of any developments.
