The new session started with a talk by Mark, Horticultural Manager at Dobbies. He explained how to plant bulbs for Christmas flowering. He raffled bowls of different bulbs and these were won by lucky members. Everyone received daffodil bulbs Mark had brought along.
Jean and Una from ‘Befrienders’ were our next speakers. They co-ordinate a group of volunteers who visit people who otherwise may not have anyone calling to see them. They provide a great service to people who might be quite lonely.
Our next meeting featured an afternoon of music provided by Eric Woodhams. All tastes were catered for as Eric played a mixture of modern and classical, Irish and Scottish, opera and jazz selections.
Our programme continued with a talk by John Winterton of the Abroath Speakers club. And this was followed on November 27 with a talk by Tony Lindsay of Serenity Sanctuary.
Our meeting on December 11 is an open meeting and entertainment will be provided by children of Carlogie Primary School.
Season’s greetings to everyone.
We look forward to meeting up again on January 15 when David Torrie will give a talk about comics.
