The Friendship Circle have enjoyed hearing some interesting speakers recently.
Hazel Cook from Carnoustie library explained that libraries are no longer quiet places and now offer lots of activities including internet access and fun for children such as building with lego. Obviously books are still available!
Our next speaker, Fiona Maclean, spoke about osteoporosis from her own personal experience. She explained how the disease is diagnosed and gave lots of useful tips about living with osteoporosis.
In February we heard about the Chernobyl Childrens’ Charity who bring children here to experience a safe environment without radioactive contamination. While on their month’s stay the children visit the dentist, get new spectacles, clothes and shoes and enjoy lots of activities and outings.
Our future speakers will talk about smuggling in Monifieth , the work of street pastors and riding for the disabled.
Our open meeting on March 10th will be Matthew’s ever popular piano recital when we hope to welcome visitors from other congregations in Carnoustie.
We are also looking forward to our outing to Abernyte Antiques Centre on April 21st.
The Friendship Circle has 40 members this year so the group is thriving-but we have room for plenty more so do consider joining us on alternate Tuesdays at 2 o clock. SW
