Possible Work Camp in Bangladesh 2015.
As some of you know, the work camp which was to have taken place in 2013 was postponed because of the political situation in Bangladesh. Things are quieter now, and I have been asked by the two Bishops if I would consider bringing a team next year.
Unlike previous ones, this will be a joint one with a church in Taiwan where one of the leaders is a friend of Bishop Paul. He is hoping to bring some young people, but I explained that late January 2015 was not an ideal time for students in the UK. However, being youthful (in age!) is not compulsory.
If anyone is interested, and would like more information, please let me know, and I will take it forward depending on the response. However, there would be some qualifications necessary.
It would be the responsibility of those going, to pay their own way (probably in the region of £1000-£1500), depending on airfares, visa costs and a donation is usually given to the Church of Bangladesh to cover their costs.
Travel and health insurance is essential and arranged by the individual. Any injections required are the responsibility of the individual in consultation with their own doctor or Health Centre.
You should be in good health (medical facilities are sparse or non-existent in the villages), be sensitive to the culture, willing to learn, and able to do some light manual work.
The ability to eat rice would be an advantage! Sense of humour essential!
I can assure you that having led 4 groups to Bangladesh since 2000, you will have a wonderful time amongst some wonderful people in the Church of Bangladesh.
