DID YOU KNOW?
We congratulate our oldest member, Mrs Helen Chalmers of Condor Court on her 100th Birthday on 1st September. She has lived there since the complex opened in 1988 and has been a very faithful attender at the monthly services conducted by the minister, and when she was younger (!) at Sunday Worship with others from Condor Court. With others she also was a supplier of the shortbread and cakes for the “cup of tea” after the service. Happy Birthday, Helen, and Many Happy Returns from your many friends.
Harvest Thanksgiving this year is on Sunday 28th September. The theme is going to be Anniversaries. The displays will include the Centenary of the outbreak of the First World War (did you know there was an Iron Harvest during that time?), East Haven 800 (complete with boat!), 160 years since the start of the building which is Newton Church and 350 years of the bell at Panbride Church. It is also hoped to include references to Westhaven (507 years), a 25th Anniversary, and a 100th birthday. As in recent years we will be inviting donations of non-perishable food which will then be taken to the Arbroath Food Project the following day. The service will be followed by a Soup and Sweet Lunch.
Natasha Lee, one of our Youth Group members, represented the Burgh of Carnoustie at the service in Forfar to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War.
