Christmas Offerings 2013
As we have done in previous years the Watchnight Service offering supported the work of Carnoustie Helpline which provides transport to hospitals and clinics. Requests for their services have greatly increased in recent years. Despite gale force winds at Panbride on Christmas Eve, there was a good attendance and £385 has been sent to Helpline. The following letter was received from Mike Richardson, Treasurer of Carnoustie Helpline. “I am delighted to acknowledge receipt of your cheque for £385 raised at your Christmas Watchnight Service. Your continued personal support and that of your congregation is very much appreciated and will greatly assist us in continuing to provide our Medical Transport Service to the residents of Carnoustie and surrounding area, the demand for which is ever increasing.” In the year to March 2013, they did 755 car runs, compared to 463 in 2003.
The Offerings from the Christingle Service and the Christmas Day service were for the RAF Benevolent Fund. Kevin Ogilvie who was baptised by me in 1990 and who attended Carlogie and Carnoustie High School was badly injured in Afghanistan in September 2012 and he and his family have been supported by the Fund. In an email which was read at the Christingle Service, Kevin mentioned that there were plans to adapt the kitchen in his home to make it easier for him and to get an adapted bike which he can use to cycle with his wife and daughter. He has done adapted sailing, and hopes to do a parachute jump in the future!
The offering from these to services amounted to £1500 which is a wonderful amount. Thank you, everyone. There has been a letter from Bob Kemp of the Benevolent Fund thanking us for the donation.
