CONGREGATIONAL OUTING – SATURDAY 22 JUNE
This year’s outing was a return to Raemoir Garden Centre near Banchory which proved to be a popular choice as there was only a few spare seats on the bus. We headed north mid morning, travelling via a misty Cairn O’ Mount where the bus had to stop for a rest!
The journey passed quickly with no shortage of chat and laughter some of which was generated when one unfortunate passenger whose seat persisted in reclining onto the person sitting behind.
Of course Mary had her usual large container of sweets and chocolates which everyone enjoyed.
On arrival at Raemoir we had a lovely lunch—2 courses plus tea or coffee with shortbread and fudge. Fish and chips or lasagne were popular choices and other customers were deprived of the apple crumble as we ate it all!
After lunch we had plenty of time to look around and make our purchases which ranged from books and plants to a big bag of straw for a Carnoustie strawberry bed. On the way home we had a quick stop in Banchory where there were a few more purchases. We arrived back in Carnoustie around 5pm after a really great day which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. A big thank you to Mary Bushnell and others who helped organise the day. One final thought — Where are we going next year?
Thanks to Update’s roaming reporter (better known as Susan Wilson) for this very prompt report.
