The Tasks Ahead

We started this year with a weekend at Teen Ranch. 13 of us were there, including three new members. This was a very enjoyable weekend and the weather was very kind to us. The feedback from the group was that the activities were enjoyable, and the food much better! The 3 “Time-Out” Sessions where a Christian message is given, were delivered by Stewart Elliot who had been an international footballer for Northern Ireland and had also played for Motherwell and Hull City.

We have hosted QuizAid and sent £105 off to Christian Aid. Thanks to everyone who supported this. We have also planted some bulbs in the courtyard and set up a bird table as part of our Eco-Congregation efforts. We hope to be able to source a large crate/container in which we can plant flowering shrubs and maybe a small tree which will make the area look more attractive. We also hope to be able to get the wall facing the link corridor painted and to get some artwork done.  The group is going to be writing letters to Garden Centres asking if they could supply some compost for the crate.

We have also had a discussion about energy usage, and it is hoped the youngsters will help with ways of reducing this.

We are also planning a sponsored walk from the Church to Easthaven and back (twice!) –  a distance of about 8 miles, and this is likely to take place in the Spring of 2014.
